Marriage Scam in Aligarh: A shocking incident has come to light just before Karwa Chauth in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Twelve brides mysteriously disappeared just days after their wedding. The matter is so serious that the police now suspect the involvement of a large, organized gang. It is reported that these brides drugged their in-laws after the wedding and fled with valuables and cash.
These incidents occurred in various areas of Aligarh, but the highest number of cases have been reported from the Harduaganj and Iglas police station areas. According to the police, this is not a simple family dispute but a case of a well-planned fraud, in which an entire gang may be involved.
Police investigations have revealed that some agents lured the parents of poor and unmarried young men by promising them "affordable" and "well-behaved" girls for marriage. These agents brought women from states like Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal. They then arranged mass marriages in a hurry to avoid suspicion. Just days after the wedding, these "brides" fled their homes, taking valuables, cash, and jewelry. Locals say that many marriages were conducted without any relatives or social connections. In some cases, even the priest and witnesses were members of the gang.
According to the victims' accounts, in most cases, the brides fed their family members prasad or food before Karwa Chauth. After eating, all the family members fell unconscious, and when they regained consciousness, all household items were missing. Motorcycles and mobile phones were also stolen from several homes.
Aligarh police have taken the matter seriously and have launched an investigation. Several agents and marriage brokers have been summoned for questioning. Police suspect that this gang may be active not only in Aligarh but also in surrounding districts. The Superintendent of Police (City) stated that clues have been found based on CCTV footage and call details. The gang is expected to be exposed soon.
Police have appealed to the public not to make hasty or greedy decisions regarding social relationships like marriage. Do not enter into marriages through brokers or agencies without proper identification and verification. This case is not only a case of fraud but also a shocking one for a segment of society that still believes in maintaining relationships based on trust.
